10/13/2019 3rd Party Google Photos App For Mac
There are a bunch of free online storage services for Mac, iPhone, and iPad, and one of the best is Google Drive. But Google also has a Photos app and service which makes it easy to store many gigabytes of photos online.
A developer has published an app in the Microsoft Store that disguises itself on devices as an official Google Photos app solution. An app titled Album By Google landed in the Microsoft Store.
What about Mac users? You can use the free uploader for Mac, or you can use a third party solution with a few more features for a few more dollars. Either way, it’s almost easy to upload photos from your Mac to Photos. A Few Dollars More Google Uploader works and it’s difficult to compete with free unless you develop an app that does more than the free apps. That’s, an inexpensive Mac app which does one thing. It lets you upload photos from your Mac to your Google account for online storage.
There’s not much to Tab for Google Photos. Instead of a separate standalone app, Tab for Google Photos resides in the Mac’s Menubar. Click and ye shall be ready to receive. Drag and drop photos from your Mac to the open Tab for Google Photos app and the photos will be uploaded automatically, while you watch. The app handles multiple size photos, of course, but unlike the Google Photos app for iPhone, it doesn’t automatically pull photos from Photos. You still have to drag and drop.

Settings are not quite non-existent. Choose the light or dark motif for OS X Yosemite or El Capitan.
Set the app to startup upon startup. And, choose the Google Photos Mini Size to display onscreen. Considering the nominal price tab you shouldn’t consider Tab for Google Photos to have many features, and that includes a developer website of worth.
Support is handled via and the app is so simple that nobody appears to need any additional support. Google’s own Photos Uploader has more storage options, though. That includes the ability to upload files in the background. Not bad for free.
